The results of our project in Yen Bai province from March to June 2024

Screening days were successfully conducted in Yen Bai province from March 3rd to 8th, 2024, reaching a total of 240 children from diverse districts. This comprehensive screening effort aimed to identify potential health concerns and ensure early intervention for the well-being of the region's children.

A key aspect of Center II's mission is empowering local healthcare professionals through education.  In line with this commitment, 190 commune nurses, health workers, and provincial doctors participated in intensive training sessions led by our experienced medical team. This comprehensive training program focused on mastering Center II's standardized screening methods, empowering local healthcare providers to independently identify and address health issues in their communities.  By investing in education and capacity building, Center II is fostering a sustainable model for improving pediatric healthcare in Yen Bai province and beyond.

Three months later the time had come. From May 27 to June 2, 2024, our team, consisting of 18 people, traveled to Yen Bai province. Our doctors do not have much time to relax, as the consultation starts immediately in the afternoon, children who have been previously screened are seen again and the final decisions regarding surgical interventions are made in the presence of their parents. During the next 6 days there is a clear routine: operating and visiting the departments where the children who have already been operated on are located. A total of 77 children were operated on during these 6 days. In addition, the classification of 77 children who were operated “Physical handicap – 26 children, Tumor -03 children, Eyes – 21 children, Urology – 15 children, After burn effect – 01 child, Cleft lip and Open palate and facial malformation – 08 children, Ear, nose and throat – 03 children”. You can imagine, an intervention of just a few minutes can changes the lives of these children!
